Wellness Coach | Changemaker
Hi, I’m Jenney!
I love being active and exercising on a consistent basis, including training for marathons and triathlons, doing bikram yoga, BBG, swimming and snowboarding. I’ve completed 3 official marathons (NYC 2013, Berlin 2015, and Queenstown 2016) with a goal to run a marathon across every continent, and I completed my first 70.3 Ironman Triathlon in Gilford, NH in 2016. I eat relatively healthy, meal prepping weekly with a balanced diet of protein, vegetables, and carbs, and I love my daily green smoothies.
While I was physically at the peak of my health, I was completely burnt out in my personal and professional life, balancing way too much on my plate, agreeing to help whenever I was asked, taking on more work than was reasonable, and not knowing when to draw boundaries. Something needed to change. So I decided to finally take charge of my own life and start controlling it, rather than letting other people’s agendas control me. I started reading tons of books (on spirituality and women’s empowerment), meditating, and being more honest with my feelings.
Starting November 2016, I have been enrolled in a health coaching training program called the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, and I truly believe that we need to take better care of ourselves before we aim to serve others. This means that in addition to nourishing our bodies with healthy food and rejuvenating it with appropriate exercise, we also need to be engaging in meaningful relationships, have a fulfilling career, and a mindful spiritual practice. I am passionate about encouraging others to take time for self-care and self-love, to have a strong mind and soul in addition to a healthy body.
I am a firm believer in experiential learning and traveling, such as studying abroad and traveling alone to distant places. I am constantly challenged to be active and try new activities, such as skydiving, scuba diving, hiking, cooking, because I love to learn and explore.
I am an advocate for diversity and inclusion and leadership development, particularly for women, youth, and people of color. For the past 7 years, I have volunteered for Asian Sisters Participating in Reaching Excellence (ASPIRE) in various roles, including Conference Director, Events Co-Chair, Marketing, and currently I am the Board Chair. For the past 5 years, I mentored a team of high school students about Entrepreneurship in a program called BUILD in Boston. In 2016, my fiance, his friend, and I co-founded our own nonprofit, Boston PLAYS (Promoting Leadership Across Youth Sports).
I’m happy to connect with like-minded folks who believe as well that it is critical to give back to our community and to leave an impactful legacy.
